THE BODY’S FIRST FLUID WORDS
I place my body here
at the end of land
and touch the endless
grains of sand;
submit my breath
to the salty air
and solemnly ask
the Great Fluidity:
What do you long
to speak or write through me?
Above my open,
speechless heart
a single seagull circles.
One sharp call seizes
all silences in the world,
here at the sea-shaped body’s
beginning and end
of words.
